The BIG 4

My baby girl turned four today. It's crazy how fast time flies when you have a child. I remember her learning how to crawl and walk like it was yesterday. I remember her peach fuzz because she was a late bloomer on the hair front. I remember her skin rolls on her little arms and a time when her feet weren't stinky. When she was the sweetest little thing with a humongous appetite. Now she's growing up into the same sweet girl but with a big heart and and an even bigger personality. She frustrates me on a daily, which isn't hard given my lack of patience, but will turn around the next minute and tell me how beautiful her mommy is. She's a kind, caring individual with a hint of diva, and I couldn't be more proud to call her my daughter.

Happy Birthday Dakota Riley. Mommy loves you!

"My daughter how you're growing"

My daughter how you're growing
and changing every day;
Some day you'll be too busy
to dance, and sing, and play.
It seems like only yesterday
I rocked you in my arms;
and though a tiny baby
I was captured by your charms.
Then in the blinking of an eye
a toddler walked to me,
Those days too are gone now
but oh, how can that be.
Now when I look at you
a little girl I see,
with grown up dreams and wishes
playing make-believe.
Too soon you will be all grown up,
but my pride will never end.
For I'll always be your mother and I hope your dearest friend.

It's Official

Well it's official..... we are moving to Seattle!!!! We are pretty excited, it was our 3rd pick. Of course San Diego was numero uno but we knew we weren't going to get that. Still Seattle is great! Never been before, but apparently I have family there. Babysitter? lol

We decided to buy a house, and it's becoming more of a pain in the ass than anything right now.... Every house we like gets bids in hours. We found a perfect house that turned out to have TONS of issues. The next house was BRAND NEW! How could anything be wrong with it, right?! Except for the 5 child molesters living directly next door. Not to mention all the theft and assault happening in the area..... Oh and not to mention the house that was 5 min from work and a school for Cody, that had been on the market 200 days! Of course as soon as we ask our realtor about it, it gets TWO offers the next morning... WTF?

Like I said, PAIN IN THE ASS! Oh well. Still looking of course. Found another house though. Let's see how this one turns out.... It's probably haunted....

toddler thoughts...

Dakota: "I farted one time... in the zoo. I farted in the zoo, guys."
*blows raspberries*
Cody: "I bet you've farted multiple times"
Dakota: "Nope only one time. In the zoo"

She's going to hate me for this one day... LOL!

My Playlist

MomDot is at it again! In todays Blog Hop we are to share our music playlist. The goal is to show what music you won't let people know you secretly love. Other than Christian Gospel and Modern folk, everyone that knows me knows I could care less what I'm listening to. I get really tired of listening to the music in my playlists so I listen to Slacker Radio ALOT. I even pay the extra 4.99 a month to get unlimited skips. F*!@ Pandora!

So here it is  :)

Smith Family Farms

Not that long ago, we took a day trip to Brentwood,CA to go to a U-Pick farm. None of us had ever been before, so we were really excited! It took us about an hour and a half to get there, and boy was it scorching!!!! When we left the house it was about a cool 75-78 degrees out in Pinole. It was 105 in brentwood with no shade! Needless to say we were sweating our badonkadonks off. To our part of the bay area 105 is like being in the sierra dessert. After about 10 minutes of complaining how hot it was, we grabbed our buckets from the lady under the ONLY shaded tree on the farm, and took off to pick our fruit. The downside about our trip was that we went close to the end of the season. So by now all the fruit still on the trees were slim picking and you needed to make sure they didn't have bugs on them.

Ready to go Pickin'!
Dakota picked a Pomegranate!
Best part of the farms was that you could eat all you want while you pick!
Showing me her apricot....

After we were finished picking, we stopped at the farmers market stand out by the road. We got so much fresh fruit and veggies for $14!!  We will definitely going back next season. This time at the beginning!

5 Things you would learn about me if you walked through my house......

I know I'm late on this, but a couple of days ago Trisha over at MomDot did a fun little blog carnival. The challenge was to take 5 pictures around your house that says something about you. AND as an added bonus she did another blog carnival with sharing your fridge and pantry AS-IS. Since I'm late on both I figured I'd add them both into one post. So here goes.....

5 things you would learn about me if you walked through my house......

1.
We have NO dishwasher!!!!
2.
I love redecorating rooms. Slowly but surely this one will be done soon. :)
3.
The dining room is our catch all.

4.
I am always in the kitchen. It's my safe haven.

5.
This is about as far as any one gets in our room. Trust me you DO NOT want to go in there. ;)

Here is my fridge and pantry AS-IS:

What would your pictures look like? If you want to get in on the fun link up over at MomDot.

Now excuse me while I go eat the Pocky I forgot about in the lazy susan. Enjoy!!

The URGE again.......

Ok so I can't help it..... I want another dog. Or cat. Maybe a Guinea Pig???

I have this utter desire to save every pet from every shelter on the planet. C on the other hand is perfectly competent with our Ziggy Wiggy. I suppose I don't make things easier on myself. I am friends with rescue volunteers on Facebook, who post pictures of the dogs before their "final days" in hopes someone will adopt them. I even go on petfinder and look at the dogs, ooooing and awwwing over every last one of them.

C is to the point where he doesnt care as long as he doesnt have to feed it or pick up the poo. What's one more mouth to feed? Right?? Heck I'll even be a foster mommy.

How can you say no to those faces?!

Pica...

Koda: Mommy, I'm hungry.
Mommy: Me too! Go make us some dinner.
Koda: I'm not high enough.
Mommy: Me either.

2 minutes pass...

Koda: Mommy whats that? Is that candy?
Mommy: That's my anklet.
Koda: *Bends down to take a bite of my anklet*

Excuse me while I go make dinner for my toddler before she starts eating the couches...
